Industrial Centrifuge Buyer Guide
Material Test, FAT and SAT for Industrial Centrifuges
Material testing, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing are connected but cannot substitute for one another. Define the evidence boundary of each stage before purchase.

Direct answer
Use a material test to evaluate separation behaviour, FAT to verify the agreed factory mechanical, control, safety and document scope, and SAT to verify site installation, utilities and contracted project performance. For every stage, freeze the input condition, protocol, instruments, witnesses, raw records, acceptance criteria, deviation process and remedy before testing starts.
What does each stage prove?
| Stage | Primary question | Does not prove by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Material test | Does the representative feed support a proposed separation route and what remains unknown? | Final machine workmanship, controls or full-scale performance |
| Design review | Are data, interfaces, materials, controls, tests and documents aligned? | Manufactured conformity or site performance |
| FAT | Does the source-specific machine meet the agreed factory inspection and test protocol? | Process performance unless a representative, contracted process test is included |
| SAT | Does the installed system meet agreed site and performance criteria under the stated basis? | Performance outside the feed and utility envelope |
How should a material sample be controlled?
Record sample source, date, process condition, composition, storage, conditioning and representativeness. Separate normal material from known difficult cases and record any blend.
The report should retain raw observations, rejected runs, settings and scale-up limitations rather than only a preferred headline result.
What belongs in an FAT protocol?
- Approved drawings, data sheet, deviation list and inspection plan
- Component and material evidence within the contracted scope
- Fabrication and inspection records requested by the buyer
- Rotation, vibration, temperature, leakage, interlock, alarm and control checks as applicable
- Utilities, instruments, calibration status and test duration
- Document index, nameplate, marking, spares and packing release
- Nonconformity classification, disposition and retest rule
What belongs in an SAT protocol?
- Installation, foundation, piping, cabling, rotation and utility readiness
- Control integration and upstream/downstream interlocks
- Feed identity and minimum, normal and maximum operating basis
- Sampling points, analytical methods and stable-operation rule
- Contracted cake, recovery, liquid quality, wash and throughput criteria
- Training, spares, open items, remedies and final handover records
How should deviations and remedies work?
Every deviation should identify the requirement, actual condition, technical effect, schedule or cost effect, proposed disposition, owner and approval. Silence or shipment is not acceptance.
The contract should state whether the remedy is correction, retest, approved concession, replacement, commercial adjustment or another agreed action.
A practical buyer decision path
Define
Application, specification, quantity, destination and evidence needs.
Compare
Align supplier responses, methods, exclusions and commercial basis.
Verify
Check the agreed company, product, document or on-site scope.
Control
Record samples, approvals, changes, inspection and shipment milestones.
Close
Deliver the agreed record, open-item list and next-step decision.
Why it matters
Without stage boundaries, a clean factory run can be mistaken for process proof, while a poor site feed can be mistaken for a machine defect. Controlled records separate these questions.
Buyer decision criteria
- Each stage has a defined purpose
- Representative inputs are traceable
- Methods and instruments are agreed
- Witness and hold points are assigned
- Acceptance criteria are measurable
- Deviations and remedies are contractual
- Raw records and revision history are retained
Specification checklist
| Control | Required record |
|---|---|
| Input basis | Feed, utilities, environment and prerequisites |
| Protocol | Steps, settings, duration, sampling and responsibilities |
| Measurement | Location, method, instrument and averaging |
| Decision | Pass/fail criteria and authorized signatories |
| Remedy | Nonconformity, corrective action, retest and release rule |
Document checklist
- Controlled process and equipment data sheet with revision status
- Supplier technical offer and line-by-line deviation register
- General arrangement, interfaces, foundation information and utility list
- Wetted-material schedule and buyer-requested source evidence
- Motor, drive, instrument, interlock and control-system documents
- Inspection and test plan with hold or witness points
- Material-test, FAT and SAT protocols and records where included
- Operation, safety, cleaning and maintenance manuals in the agreed language
- Spare-parts, wear-parts, packing, preservation and shipment-document list
Common mistakes
- Calling every factory run a performance test
- Testing untraceable or conditioned samples without disclosure
- Defining a target without its method
- Starting FAT before drawings and deviations are approved
- Shipping with unresolved major nonconformities
- Testing site performance outside the agreed feed envelope without recording the change
Questions to ask suppliers
- Which submitted process inputs and representative tests support the proposed principle?
- Which assumptions, exclusions and open technical items remain?
- How are throughput, cake, recovery, liquid quality and wash results measured?
- Which wetted material applies to each component, and what evidence is available?
- What is demonstrated during material test, FAT and SAT respectively?
- Which drawings, manuals, inspection records, spares and commissioning services are included?
- Which buyer-requested conformity documents are available for this exact source and scope?

Frequently asked questions
Can FAT prove cake moisture?
Only if a representative contracted process test, feed, method and acceptance basis are explicitly included; a no-load run cannot.
Who should witness FAT?
The contract should name buyer, source and any qualified third-party witness roles and hold points.
What if the site feed differs from the RFQ?
Record the deviation and evaluate its effect before assigning pass or failure.
Should raw readings be retained?
Yes. Keep raw readings, sample identity, settings, observations, deviations and approvals with the final report.
Does a passed test prove certification?
No. Conformity evidence has its own source, scope, revision and validity review.
How long are inquiry and test records kept?
XiangtanExport retains inquiry records under its long-term B2B policy unless manually archived or deleted for a valid requirement.
